"Close but far" (from the exhibition "200 000 Years of Longing") deals with a feeling of longing that one has towards someone who is physically close but mentally far away. One naturally craves to be with someone else, but approaching them can feel anything but natural. In this work, the ground symbolises the surface of the body and with the red colour I try to represent the concrete nature of the feeling of missing someone. Even though the heart is cold, the tears in the eyes and on the face are burning hot.
